Please Don't Miss The Message!

Sometimes people have questioned whether something that was written or recorded a few years ago might still be current in today's circumstances. It is certainly a valid question because it is tempting to think that the material may be out of date.
Let me use the Super Secrets® to Wealth do-it-yourself real estate home study course as an example for the puposes of this illustration. This course was first recorded in 1997 and at that time I gave examples of properties I had bought in Sydney for an average price of $85,000. Now believe me, even at that time they were exceptionally good prices. Whenever I asked my seminar audiences at the time whether it was possible to buy real estate in Sydney for less than $100,000, most people said no. Regardless of what others thought, I was doing it and I even bought a property for as little as $69,000. (No, it wasn't falling down. In fact, it had just been repainted and recarpeted by the former owner!) Five years later, I was buying the same types of properties in another location for as low as $58,000. The most expensive property I bought during that buying trip was $63,000. By the way, the rental returns on these properties was around $125 to $140 per week at the time. The point I am making is that prices and property values will always change. The values are determined by what someone is willing to pay at the time. A buyer's willingness to pay a certain price will depend on their current circumstances, on their reasons for buying the property and on the market conditions at the time. These can change from day to day. If you get hung up on the values used as examples in books and tapes, you will miss the most important message being presented. The values are irrelevant! It's the principles that count. Often the principles taught are as relevant years down the track and in many geographic locations as they were when they were first presented. Have you ever noticed that cars, coins, wines, paintings and many other collectibles become MORE valuable as they get older? Have you noticed that rare books and out of print books are often sought after for the information they contain and often cost much more than when they were originally sold? It's because their value is enduring! Principles stand the test of time. They don't change as prices change. In the case of the Super Secrets® to Wealth do-it-yourself real estate home study course, what you will learn is a system of locating and negotiating for bargain priced properties with high cash flows. It's the formula, the system, the methods, the strategy and the principles that count - not the prices or values of the day! So please don't miss the message!
